Travel to Freedom on the Underground Railroad

In January our class began investigating the Underground Railroad.  We started by reading stories that recounted the harrowing and heroic adventures of fugitive slaves as they made their way to freedom.  Next on our journey we began researching the Underground Railroad using a webquest site. We made many discoveries along the the way about life in America during the 1800's.  Our class wrote in journals, studied maps and made an actual quilt in Jill's art class. We have gathered all of our findings here. 

Life under slavery was so terrible that even though it was really dangerous, many slaves took the risk and tried to escape to freedom. This became known as the Underground Railroad. On this Web site, you can follow the journey to Canada. At each station stop you will read fictional journal entries and find out facts about the Underground Railroad along the way.
